Hi There :)
Many of you possibly know by now my first love in scrapping, unlike most of you who hate it ;) is OTP. Sometimes I might see something and immediately think I could alter that! And sometimes it might sit there for a while, or quite a while!
This is what happened with this project. I love trawling through junk shops, or second hand shops, there is some way cool stuff there just begging to be altered! I found this one in a junk shop and in its original form it was a key holder with slots for photos on the front of it. Its now become my own private zoo!
I have loads of photos I could have used for this project but there was one in particular I wanted to use. Forbes and I had a holiday in Melbourne back in 2004 I think it was, and met up with his sister while we were over there. This is also the day we went to Melbourne Zoo and there was a photo studio set up where you posed for a photo and then the animals were photoshopped into it. You could choose which ones you wanted. HAD to choose to the lions :)
On the roof of my zoo is my sign which I think was ScrapFx. Ive gessoed it first and then applied Pearlescents rubbed in over the top - mixing Graphite and Butterscotch. I then inked around the edges to make the letters stand out and randomly stamped with the It is Written stamp set.
Theres a piece of paper in the collections called Corrugated and I just love it!!!! Ive used that to alter the sliding doors. I wanted an old funky look to my zoo and I think I got it :) I created the ornate door handles using Kaisercraft wood flourishes and again gessoed them before painting them with Graphite Pearlescents, and adding jewels for door handles. Of course it needed a sign hanging from it indicating my zoo was open!
A close up of my zoo roof. I fussy cut lots of leaves from the Palms sheet of paper.
The little monkey is part of the Noteworthy range - all the animals Ive used in this project were part of the Notworthy range and were not harmed in any way ;) but they were glued!

The doors slide across and my zoo is open! The first exhibition you see is humans in the lion enclosure!! ;) I fussy cut us out of the photo and created our enclosure around us. The back wall is made by layering pieces of Jungle - the bricks - onto Safari - the cream with the signs. Our photo is mounted with foam to make us pop out.
Along the fence is a banner from the Chipboard range. The fence is Dusty Attic that is again gessoed and this time Ive rubbed Graphite and Licorice Pearlescents into it, and then inked the edges. Some stones, fussy cut leaves and sphagnum moss are added to finish the enclosure.
I love love love how this turned out!!
Thanks for popping by :)
